I Never Want to Fall in Love Again…

Because when one ‘falls’ in love, it is a temporary form of insanity.

That’s a fact, widely accepted.  To steal Jack Nicholson’s line from a  favorite film of mine: ‘Sorry, but we’re all stocked up on crazy here!’.

And simply put: it doesn’t last.  That’s also a fact.

I would rather love. The way we are meant to love; with our whole being in mind, body and spirit.  With much sacrifice and compassion.

The way God loves us….just as we are.

In this very moment.

The good and the bad.

The ugly.

That pure, clean raw energy has astonishing power to heal even the most damaged parts and pieces of ourselves and others.

Now that’s a love that not only lasts but grows and flourishes until it can not be contained.  It will burst forth from the heart.  Crack wide open and overflow into every moment, action and interaction in your life.

This kind of love expects nothing in return.  It is self-less.

In fact the expectation of a return diminishes and shrivels what actual love may exist.

Now if we love others in this perfect love, I believe it is actually God’s love being received.  It flows into and then outward through our hearts seeking nothing more than to heal.   Our lives, our relationships and even the most mundane of tasks we carry out will bear extraordinary evidence of this love.

Our life becomes holy.  One of reverence and beauty.

Romantic love isn’t love at all.  It is nothing more than a combination of projections and misconceptions.  A mirage in the desert of want.  We see traits and characteristics we long for in ourselves and they may become greatly exaggerated while we remain blind to other less welcome quirks.  Crazy making behavior that we don’t notice at first.  And when we finally do, we rant that our beloved has changed! Revealed are the warts, moles and pimples that make up what it is to be human.

And all the while we struggle to hide our own less stellar selves.  Hoping those habits, traits and idiosyncrasies will go unnoticed.

All because.

We think we won’t be loved if we’re exposed.

In God’s perfect love,

we couldn’t be further from the truth.

And perfect love will cast out all fear.

I’ve had some moments of inspiration but have not wanted to remain writing only of sobriety. So…. here is my brand new blog titled Full Circle. Haven’t done much with the particulars such as theme, about, etc.- all that will be a work in progress. I felt getting the words down most important. Thanks for the support. ❤

  2. Boy do I understand this completely! Beautiful Elizabeth. Sometimes I worry about myself because romance never (well, hardly ever) crosses my mind anymore. This was a good reminder that this is a good thing. I was always FALLING, and falling hard. I love the name “Full circle.” Very nice!
